Ferrite Testing

Ferrite testing otherwise known as ferrite inspection,  is used to measure data of the ferrite content from stainless steels (there are different types such as duplex and austenitic). The benefit of a suitable ferrite content allows the steel to perform well balancing properties such as resistance to corrosion, crack prevention and overall strength (toughness)

Ferrite testing therefore verifies if the heat treatment applied to the material has reached the required performance balance. Additionally it highlights the presence of potentially damaging third phases in the materials, which can inhibit the performance of duplex & super-duplex steels and alert to weld strength deficiencies.

Our NDT testing ensures obtained ferrite readings are accurate and are matched to truly reflect the materials the samples are taken from.
