Format NDT Ltd carried out comprehensive non-destructive testing on utilities pipework at the West Burton CCGT Power Station (EDF Energy) prior to encasement in concrete. Work commenced on site in January 2008 and formed a critical part of pre-construction quality assurance, identifying and rectifying any defects before permanent installation.
Our non-destructive testing and inspections ensured the integrity and longevity of the pipework, minimising the risk of later failures and costly remedial works, and providing full documentation for client records and regulatory compliance. The station was scheduled for commercial operation in 2011 with an expected life of 25 years and will generate enough electricity to meet the needs of around 1.5 million homes.
